Social equity is an aspect of sustainability that can be overshadowed by an emphasis on environmental issues, yet it’s among the 17 联合国可持续发展目标 (SDGs) that target global challenges affecting people and the planet—including poverty, inequality, and peace and justice issues—with an aim “to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.”

Recently, Pitt’s 全球球速体育研究中心 (GSC) Director 迈克尔•古德哈特 moderated a panel discussion co-hosted by the GSC and Pitt’s 可持续商业中心 (CSB) that explored the role of business in driving social change in accordance with the U.N. SDGs framework.

The March 3 event drew an audience of more than 150 students, faculty, staff and community members to the University Club to hear panelists CB巴塔查里亚, H.J. Zoffer Chair in 可持续性 and Ethics in the 约瑟夫M.卡茨商学院 and director of the Pitt CSB; Pitt Director of 可持续性 极光Sharrard; 匹兹堡市首席韧性官和可持续发展经理Grant Ervin； and University of Connecticut Professor of Political Science and Human Rights 谢林赫特尔.
